What is Reflux?

Reflux affects over 40% of babies in the first year of life. Reflux often occurs because a baby’s digestive system is immature.

SMA® Anti-Reflux is a nutritionally complete formula for the dietary management of babies with frequent reflux (regurgitation/spitting up). It can be used as the sole source of nutrition from birth in place of your usual formula feed and can be mixed with foods once weaning has begun.

You may notice a change in baby’s stool when changing to SMA® Anti-Reflux. This is due to the different ingredients and is normal.

Thicker formula requires a fast flow-teat.

What is colic?

All babies cry, but some cry more than others. When there is no obvious cause for excessive crying it could be a sign of colic. 1 in 5 babies experience colic. Symptoms usually start in the first few weeks of life and start to improve by 3-4 months.

What is constipation?

All babies will have a different pattern to their bowel movements. Constipation means when it is more difficult for your baby to have a poo, and symptoms include pooing less than 3 times in a week. Constipation in babies is usually easily managed.

If you think your baby has colic or constipation, speak to your GP, health visitor or pharmacist for advice.
